The Park officially opened May 1st and it has been non-stop action ever since. Greece Athena, Nazareth and, of course, Northstar Christian Academy, boys & girls, varsity & junior varsity, used our fields for their home games this season. Due to an unusually dry spring, we had very few rainouts and make-ups.
May 8th was our annual Day of Caring. We were blessed with several Xerox employees who worked six hours apiece. A number of important tasks were accomplished that day including the weeding and mulching of our front garden, as well as the gardens adjacent to our activities and annex buildings.
All our baseball fields are now operational - four youth, two softball and one major league. We are in the planning review stages for our new quad concession, pavilion and restroom facility. It is our intention to have that constructed once the baseball season ends so that it is operational in 2009.
The Greece Buccaneers hosted our first soccer tournament of the season, May 16-18, playing a total of 91 games in that span. The Greece Cobras hosted their annual soccer tournament on July 12-13.
Our 7th annual Spirit of America (www.TheSpiritofAmerica.info) Independence Day Celebration was our best ever as we were blessed with a perfect day weather-wise. This event has become a 4th of July tradition for Greece and the surrounding communities.
During the weeks of July 21-August 1, the Park will host the 2nd Annual Summers Best Days, a day camp for inner city youth. We will be partnering again with several Rochester churches to minister to the children and young teens of their communities.
On Saturday, August 9, 10 AM to 4 PM, we will host our first ever Corvette and Street Rod Show.
